When Fear Becomes an Invitation to Trust

I had a dream: Raphael, our cat, fell from the second floor. My heart was utterly devastated, and I ran downstairs looking for Raphy. Raphy's fall from the second floor shattered me. Raphy is a strictly indoor cat and isn't used to any other creature; Raphy doesn't know how to manage the outside world. I am scared for his life. He wouldn't know how to fight, defend himself, or fend for his own food. When I came downstairs, I found newborn puppies: 4/5
The poem below is born from that dream.
As you read this poem, as your heart leads you, you can personalize the names - Raphael, our cat, as your child/children, dream - God has entrusted you with, promise, business, job, anything that God shows you in the moment. Receive it and read this poem as an assurance of God's unfailing love and his protection for us.
The One Who Holds What I Love"
I saw what was precious to me fall,
and my heart shattered in the wind of fear.
The gentle One I nurtured — pure, soft, and white —
was suddenly cast into a world of noise and strangeness.
My soul cried out, "Lord, not what I love! Not my Raphy!"
Yet Heaven whispered,
"My beloved, I know that cry —
for it is My own."
"When you tremble for what you cherish,
you touch the edge of My divine tenderness.
I too have watched innocence fall,
yet I turned that fall into resurrection."
"Nothing that is truly Mine is ever lost in the fall.
Even what seems thrown from safety
lands in My arms before it ever touches the ground."
"And those newborn creatures you saw?
They are signs of new life springing forth around you —
tender beginnings, innocent callings,
awaiting your love and wisdom to guide them."
"So do not fear this change, My child.
What you call danger, I call awakening.
What you fear as loss, I have hidden in My keeping.
Even the purest things you guard are safer with Me
than in your arms alone."
And I breathed —
the ache inside me slowly softened
into trust.
I saw the One who loves me more than I love my own,
holding Raphy, holding Ram, holding me.
No harm.
Only hands.
Only love.
Only peace.
Prayer
Father,
You see my heart's cry when fear overwhelms me.
You know how I tremble at the thought of losing what I love.
Teach me to trust that You hold Raphy, Ram, and me
in the safety of Your mercy.
When life feels out of my control, remind me:
You never throw — You lift.
You never abandon — You guard.
You never let fall — You catch.
Let Your peace settle in my heart like soft wings,
and let me rest knowing that every innocent thing I love
Is covered in Your gentle hand.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
